A gift card is a type of preloaded card issued by retailers and banks. Gift cards issued by retailers can be used at select stores only, and gift cards issued by banks can be used anywhere that major credit cards are accepted, the latter typically carry fees.
Gift cards are used for purchasing goods and services. Some gift cards may be reloadable which allows cardholders to add funds to the card and use it over and over again.
